Developing Today’s Youth Into Tomorrow’s Leaders
About the Cadet Program
The Cadet Program is a community-based program open to all youth age 12 to 18. Although the program is expected to be physically and mentally challenging, there will be no artificial barriers developed which preclude participation based on gender, race, culture, religion, education, socioeconomic status or ability. The Cadet Program contributes to the development and preparation of youth for the transition to adulthood, enabling them to meet the challenges of modern society, through a dynamic community-based youth program offered to youth in underserved communities. All at no cost.
The aim of the Cadet Program is to develop in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership, promote physical fitness and stimulate the interest of youth in sea, land and air activities of the Canadian Forces. Cadets are encouraged to become active, responsible members of their communities. The Cadet Program helps them develop self-confidence, self-esteem and teamwork. Other benefits may include high school credits, scholarships and training in public speaking.
Whether youth stay with the program for many years or for just a few weeks, it is imperative that they remember the experience positively. This may have a lasting impact which will guide their development in future years.
